I had the incredible opportunity to work with Phil Penman through his Bespoke Online Workshop, and I can confidently say that it was a transformative experience that has profoundly impacted my career as a photographer. Phil's guidance and expertise have been instrumental in building up my social media presence and taking my photography to new heights.

When I joined the workshop, my social media metrics were promising but had room for improvement. In February 2023, my Instagram account had around 1300 followers, with 26K impressions and an average reach of 4K. Under Phil's mentorship, my social media performance has skyrocketed. By August 2023, my followers had grown to over 2000, with an impressive 103K impressions and an average reach of 10K. These numbers are a testament to the effectiveness of Phil's teachings and strategies in leveraging social media to showcase my work effectively.

Another significant milestone I achieved through Phil's mentorship was the reconstruction of my website. With his keen eye and valuable insights, we redesigned the layout and incorporated marketing tools, leading to a remarkable 37% increase in page views. This boost in website traffic has undoubtedly helped me expand my audience and reach potential clients and art enthusiasts more effectively.

Phil's expertise in reviewing my portfolio and providing guidance on finding my personal style and voice in photography was invaluable. His encouragement to focus on color photography, primarily working with abstract images while incorporating portraits, all inspired by street photography, helped me refine my artistic vision and find my niche in the competitive world of photography.

Moreover, I was honored to be invited as a Guest Photographer for several events, such as "Our Streets" Photo Walk hosted by SA Creatives, "Coffee, Kicks & Cameras" presented by Fleet Feet and Color of Coffee Collective, and the "Unseen" Photo Exhibit at Digital Pro Lab. These experiences not only bolstered my professional network but also enabled me to showcase my work to a broader audience, raising my profile in the photography community.

Furthermore, Phil's guidance has helped me gain recognition from various publications and organizations. My work has been featured in TheAvenueMagazine, Capture One (featured in two ads), Leica UK, and Document Magazine (with two published images and an interview). I was also fortunate to be interviewed and have one of my images included in the article "10 Street Photographers on The Best Leica Camera," published by Featureshoot.

In conclusion, my experience working with Phil Penman through his Bespoke Online Workshop has been life-changing. From building my social media presence to refining my artistic vision and earning prestigious opportunities and recognition, Phil's mentorship has been invaluable at every step of my journey. I cannot thank him enough for his unwavering support, guidance, and expertise that have propelled my photography career to new heights. If you are serious about elevating your photography to the next level, I wholeheartedly recommend Phil Penman's workshops without hesitation. The Crazy part is that we aren’t even done with our session.

When I first contacted Phil I was looking for advice and direction to my photography. I explained what I wanted to achieve and he tailored the online courses perfectly to my needs.

Not only a superb photographer Phil also has a gift for teaching and he can identify the needs of people when it comes to business and marketing as well, this makes him a mentor worth knowing.

At the start of the mentoring sessions I had a small following on Instagram and no website. During our online workshops Phil was instrumental in the design of my website ( https://www.kieronbeard.com ). As soon as the website went live it garnered attention and I learned that it’s a place where I can display my photos with my photographic identity.

Working with Phil has given me the confidence to push myself forward and not be shy when it comes to photography. Through his teaching I have learnt to have confidence in my own style and to publish the photos of which I’m proud.

Through Phil’s ongoing and continued support I have developed and gained some recognition. I have been involved in the launch of two products and several commercial photo shoots.

I was asked to test out the Leica Q3 (in Switzerland) and give feedback before its release in May 2023 and featured on the Leica blog ( https://leica-camera.blog/fr-ch/2023/06/01/leica-q3-la-quintessence-photographique-au-format-compact/ ).
As well as this, I have been interviewed by the Photowalk podcast (The Extra Mile edition), featured on the Silvergumtype blog ( https://silvergumtype.com/2021/08/31/kieron-beard-an-englishman-abroad/ )and had an honourable mention in a photography competition in Geneva. Now I run my own workshops, in my style, on black and white street photography.

Points that stand out as having Phil as a mentor are his willingness to see his students do well and for his continued support. He always replies to my many queries with advice gained from his vast experience.

In summary I have learnt to focus on my black and white street photography and enjoy the process. It’s more about showing the world as I see it through my camera than aiming to gain likes on social media.
